This video tutorial explains how to create a bow wave by mixing a displacement map with animated Noise. This is one of many possible approaches. The advantage of this approach is that you have all the control you want concerning the look of the bow wave – the downside is that it only works when the boat is moving in a straight line. Please note that this approach does not use any form of simulation (cloth, dynamics, fluids, …), so it’s very fast and reliable.
